I'm the Founder/CEO of Afi Labs, a startup that builds Big Data analysis and visualization systems for the transportation and logistics space.

My graduate studies were at MIT, supervised by Prof Daniela Rus in the department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and Prof Amedeo Odoni of the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics. My general research interests involve applying computer science and operations research methods to solve large scale transportation problems.

My primary research interests lie at the intersection of operations research and computer science with a large emphasis on designing transportation systems that are scalable, robust and responsive. In particular, I am interested in using large urban data sets to characterize the real time performance of transportation networks, and developing algorithms and methods that will enable these networks to undergo a systems level improvement in efficiency and reliability.

A common theme in my research is the analysis and visualization of real time data sets to design and implement real time control systems that can materially enhance sustainability and societal well-being on both a city-wide and global scale. Previously, I’ve worked with Prof Carlo Ratti on the LIVE Singapore Project, an ambitious initiative to develop a platform that collects, processes and distributes real-time data in Singapore.

My graduate work explored how taxi operations at Changi International Airport in Singapore can be improved by using a novel queuing model to predict taxi supply and demand at each airport terminal.
